GALLIVAN SPONSORS LEGISLATION TO SHINE LIGHT ON PAY-TO-PLAY IN ALBANY

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) announced today that he is sponsoring legislation aimed at addressing the alleged pay-to-play culture that exists between private contractors vying for procurement and service contracts and state government. “New Yorkers deserve a state government they can trust and one that strives to serve the people, not secondary interests,” said Gallivan. “This bill will help ensure that companies receiving contracts for public works are being awarded based on their ability to do the job effectively and efficiently on behalf of the taxpayers, not as part of any quid-pro-quo.”

GALLIVAN HOSTS 30 AREA BUSINESSES AT SEMINAR IN EAST AURORA

EAST AURORA - Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) joined with the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce Tuesday morning to host a small business seminar and networking event at the Gleed Auditorium at the Aurora Town Hall.

Nearly 30 local businesses from East Aurora and surrounding communities took part in the ninety minute session that featured presentations from Sen. Gallivan and business development and marketing consultant Frank Swiatek.

STATE ENACTS NEW MEASURE TO COMBAT BATH SALTS

Like everything in the United States, drug use and abuse has evolved alongside the ebb and flow of larger American culture. The sixties and seventies saw the rise in recreational use of marihuana and psychedelics like LSD. Later cocaine become a popular substance of choice, and along with it, the development of crack cocaine – a compound so addictive and destructive that many communities are still struggling to recover from the crack epidemic of the late eighties and early nineties that devastated neighborhoods and urban centers across the country. More recently, we have experienced an increase in heroin and synthetic opioid use along with designer drugs like ecstasy and methamphetamine.

The New York State Department of Health has opened a hotline to help customers sign up for New York's healthcare exchange.  The enrollment period runs from October 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014.  You can reach the "NY State of Health" program at 1-855-355-5777.  The line will be open Monday through Friday 8 a.m to 5 p.m.  For additional information, please visit www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov.

GALLIVAN ANNOUNCES MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN ERIE COUNTY MOVING FORWARD

Routes 219 and 400 Will Undergo Significant Improvements

ERIE COUNTY - State Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma), a member of the Senate's transportation committee, today announced nearly $21 million in improvement investments for key highway construction projects across southern Erie County. The investment will be funded through the New York Works State Highway and Bridge Project Acceleration Program, which was approved as part of this year's enacted state budget.

Specifically, the state will invest $9.6 million toward removing and replacing 14 miles of Route 219’s road surface stretching from Route 391 in the Town of Boston to Route 39 in the Town of Concord.

SENATOR GALLIVAN HOLDS OPEN HOUSE AT NEW MONROE COUNTY SATELLITE OFFICE

HENRIETTA- New York State Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, 59th District) joined with Monroe County community leaders and over 50 area residents Wednesday as he formally opened his new Monroe County Satellite Office on Jefferson Road in the Town of Henrietta.

“Constituent communication and interaction is an essential component to effective representation. This new office in the heart of Henrietta will provide area residents with an accessible and open point of contact with our office, and I believe it will allow me to be a better advocate for their interests and the interests of Monroe County in the Senate,” Gallivan said.

The new satellite office is located in the Genesee Valley Regional Market Authority Building at 900 Jefferson Road in Henrietta.

The program is being administered in cooperation with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, which will provide a Sheriff’s Deputy to serve as the SRO on a rotating basis at Iroquois Central School District, Alden Central School District, Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District, North Collins Central School District and Holland Central School District.

My thoughts remain with the family members of the deceased. Unfortunately, answers are not always as immediate as we would like following tragedies of this nature.”

My first piece of legislation passed in the Senate was to allow rifle hunting in Wyoming County and today I am pleased to announce that we have made that law permanent. Local sportsmen have been long sought for rifle hunting to have a permanent place in Wyoming County and I am proud to have delivered it this year.”
