Senator Gallivan Urges Governor to Provide Assistance to West Seneca Flood Victims

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) is calling on Governor Cuomo to provide disaster aid to residents of the Town of West Seneca impacted by severe flooding this past winter that damaged more than 70 homes and businesses.  While the state has provided funding to help the town with costs incurred for storm damage and cleanup, individual residents have not received any financial assistance.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Like so many others in our community, breast cancer has impacted my life and my family.  My wife Mary Pat is a breast cancer survivor and while great strides have been made in the early detection and treatment of this disease, the fight is far from over. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women are encouraged to consult with their health care providers to learn more about the disease, discuss their concerns, and develop an appropriate plan for breast cancer screening -- because early detection can save lives.

NYS Banking Settlement Windfall Belongs to Taxpayers

It’s not a bad problem to have.  What to do with more than $3 billion?  That’s the question facing the State of New York after a settlement with BNP Paribas, a French bank charged with violating U.S. money laundering laws. Similar settlements with other banks could drive the total windfall to about $4 billion.  As you can imagine, there is no shortage of ideas for what to do with this money.  I believe the answer is simple; return the money to the people of New York by relieving the tax burden on residents and lowering the cost of government.

Senator Gallivan Sponsors Electronic Recycling Event

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) is teaming up with Sunnking, Time Warner Cable and the East Leads student organization at West Seneca East High School for an electronics recycling event on Saturday, September 27.  Residents can drop-off and properly dispose of electronic devices free of charge between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the school at 4760 Seneca Street.  Those dropping off items should enter the school from Center Street.
