State Senator Patty Ritchie paid a Valentine’s Day visit with area seniors at Oswego’s Morningstar Residential Care Facility.

Senator Ritchie’s annual nursing home visits—complete with flowers, greeting cards and plenty of smiles for residents (but no sweets)—have been an annual tradition since she first took office in 2011.

RITCHIE DELIVERS THE BISCUIT AT OPENING OF SUNY POTSDAM'S MAXCY HALL

POTSDAM, NY (11/02/2013)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam celebrated the grand re-opening of its newly renovated Maxcy Hall Ice Arena with a series of events on Saturday, Nov. 2. In addition to the men's and women's home-opening games, SUNY Potsdam inducted its 1995-96 SUNYAC Champion men's ice hockey team in to the Bears Hall of Fame.

Festivities began with the Hall of Fame induction ceremony and brunch in the morning. At 2:30 p.m., a pre-game ceremony took place at center ice, prior to the women's contest against Saint Michael's College. Following the women's game, there was a special postgame reception for players, their families and alumni in Maxcy's Welsh Gymnasium.

OGDENSBURG'S BLUE DEVILS ARE OFF TO THE FINAL FOUR!

I was so pleased to be on hand for the OFA Blue Devils victory in the Class B regional contest tonight. Coach Tom Pinkerton's boys really shined behind stellar pitching by Breton LaRose and a clutch, 9th inning 2-run homer by Andrew Cole!
Now it's off to Binghamton for Saturday's semifinal. Sadly, the news wasn't as great for two other local teams, but I know they played their hearts out. Congrats to all on a great season!

RITCHIE RALLIES FOR 2D AMENDMENT

State Senator Patty Ritchie was one of the featured speakers at Saturday's Freedom Rally in Gouverneur where she announced that she has introduced an amendment to  the New York State Constitution that would include the right to bear arms. Currently, New York State is one of only six states in the nation that does not include it in its state constitution. The event was emceed by Ogdensburg native and Radio Talk Show Host Melody Burns. Senator Ritchie voted NO on the state's new gun control law out of concerns for sportsmen and protecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

At the event, Senator Ritchie joined other local leaders to discuss community challenges and opportunities in the upcoming year, as well as the area’s accomplishments of the past year.

State Senator Patty Ritchie recently congratulated the top winners in the Northern New York Junior Bassmasters fishing tournament, held in Ogdensburg. 

The program, sponsored by the Northern New York Bassmasters, introduces young people to fishing and the outdoors.

DREAMING OF OLYMPIC GOLD

Senator Patty Ritchie met recently with the parents of Mexico, NY's, Ann Jardin, as they worked to raise funds for their daughter's dream of being part of the US trap shooting team at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

20-year-old Ann is an already accomplished shooter who has competed and excelled in the Empire State Games, among other competitions. The funds raised will ne used to pay for her training and other expenses.

State Senator Patty Ritchie recently visited Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers as part of her "Where We Work" tour, celebrating local employers, and seeking ways to promote local job growth throughout Central and Northern New York.

Senator Ritchie presented a cake to wish the third-generation family business good luck in a nationwide competition to name Pepsi's top distributors.

Pictured with the Senator are CEO Bonnie Winter Wright, GM Richard Wright, John Reed and Mike Looney.

The Ogdensburg company currently employs about 50 people in St. Lawrence County.

I donated American flags to the Mt. Adnah cemetery in Fulton, and to the Village of Phoenix, in Oswego County. The flags had flown over the State Capitol in Albany, and will now wave proudly in our communities.

A 'MOVING' EXPERIENCE

I attended the unveiling of the Moving Vietnam Veterans Wall in Mexico (Oswego County) Thursday, so named--I am now convinced--because of the effect it has on visitors. The Wall travels across the USA to honor those who served in southeast Asia, and I was proud to join with so many of those veterans at the unveiling.
