Leads Call for Transmission Upgrades Over New "Champlain Express"
State Senator Patty Ritchie is joining forces with a bipartisan coalition of Upstate lawmakers to push for upgrades to the state’s power transmission system over plans for a new underwater cable that will speed energy from Canada directly to New York City—without stopping to support domestic jobs.
State Senator Patty Ritchie announced today that she’s named Fulton’s Jan Rebeor as a 2012 “Woman of Distinction.”
Mrs. Rebeor, a life-long resident of Oswego County who survived a bout with cancer, was selected from nearly a dozen individuals nominated by friends, family members and community leaders throughout Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties. Senator Ritchie will fete all of the nominees at a special reception in Watertown on June 7.
Seeks Monuments, Markers of Region’s Contributions to ‘War that Saved the Republic’
State Senator Patty Ritchie, with the help of three noted local historians, is drafting community members to help record the region’s contributions to America’s Civil War, part of a statewide effort to remember New York’s role in the “War that Saved the Republic,” which was fought 150 years ago.
