Joint Ag-Health Committee Event to Feature Officials, Experts on Animal, Human Health and Prevention
State Senator Patty Ritchie will hold a roundtable forum on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 11 am, in Oswego’s County Legislature Chambers, to discuss the state and local response to Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Central New York, and to explore ways to reduce risk of the disease to humans and animals.
The event is being sponsored jointly by the Senate’s Agriculture Committee, chaired by Senator Ritchie, and Health Committee, which is chaired by Senator Kemp Hannon, and will feature state and local health officials and experts on animal and human health, and disease prevention.

Senator Ritchie Looking to Shape Farm Agenda for 2012
State Senator Patty Ritchie and the Senate Agriculture Committee are hosting two additional “Agriculture Business Forums” this week in Livingston and Suffolk Counties to gain insights and ideas to help strengthen New York’s farm economy and create jobs.
The forums are the second and third in a series that will help set the legislative agenda on agricultural issues for the session that begins in January.
Advisory Group Holds First Meeting; Power Upgrades, Overregulation Top Priority List
State Agriculture Committee Chair Patty Ritchie is turning to the experts for ways to help Central and Northern New York farmers grow their businesses, create jobs and strengthen the region’s leading industry.
Senator Ritchie held the first meeting this week of her 13-member Agriculture Advisory Council, and fielded ideas that ranged from the need for power system upgrades to allow dairy farms to expand, to examples of overly cumbersome red tape that makes it tougher for farmers to become more efficient, expand production and markets, and lower costs.
State Senator Patty Ritchie is bringing government closer to her constituents in St. Lawrence and southern Jefferson Counties, with two of her highly successful “Mobile District Offices” planned for Edwards and West Carthage next week.
