More than 200 firefighters, rescue, EMS and other emergency first responders and their families joined State Senator Patty Ritchie Tuesday, for her first-ever ‘Volunteer Appreciation Day’, held at Cape Vincent Recreation Park.

They save us from burning buildings. They are the first on the scene at motor vehicle accidents. They go searching when our loved ones go missing. They are the ones running towards danger when everyone else is running away.
Too often though, we forget to say ‘thanks’ to the more than 150,000 volunteer firefighters, EMS, search and rescue teams and other emergency responders that serve across New York State.

Online Petition Grows to More Than 2,000 Signatures
State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced additional support for “Mark’s Law," her measure designed to put the full weight of the law behind emergency first responders and ensure just punishment for those who harm these heroes.
As of Friday, seven lawmakers have signed on to co-sponsor her bill, S.2130.. In addition, an online petition where the public can show their support for Mark’s Law has reached more than 2,000 signatures.
Local Fire Departments to Open their Doors April 27th and 28th for “RecruitNY”
State Senator Patty Ritchie is reminding the public that fire departments across Central and Northern New York will open their doors this weekend for “RecruitNY,” an annual event organized by the Fireman’s Association of the State of New York, or FASNY, to bring in new recruits.
