State Senator Patty Ritchie is calling on families who are tired of property tax increases to join her in urging the Assembly majority to pass Governor Andrew Cuomo’s tax cap.
 
“The hard working taxpayers of Central and Northern New York need action so they can afford to stay in their homes,” Senator Ritchie said. “That’s why I voted on January 31st for Governor Cuomo's tax cap and I am urging New Yorkers to join my fight."

Results of Senator Ritchie's 2011 Legislative Community Survey

State Senator Patty Ritchie released the results of the survey she conducted of residents in Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties to guide her in her consideration of the recently passed on-time budget.

"The people of Northern and Central New York were very clear that they wanted their state government to find ways to reduce spending, cut costs and rein in government at all levels," Senator Ritchie said. "The state budget that I supported reflected the priorities people set when they responded to my survey."

Senator Ritchie recognizes Fulton PD Chief Orlo Green. The department recently won a AAA Platinum Traffic Safety Award.

State Senator Patty Ritchie presented the City of Fulton's Police Chief Orlo Green with a certificate on Friday for earning the American Automobile Association's (AAA) Platinum Award for its traffic-safety program. This is the fourth year in a row that the Fulton Police Department has earned the award. AAA's Community Traffic Safety Program is an awards and recognition program open to communities of all sizes nationwide for earning the AAA Platinum Award for the Fulton Police Department's traffic safety program.

Your community needs heroes. Your friends and your hometown are looking for people to join your  volunteer fire department or rescue squad. They  provide critical services when your neighbors need help  in communities across Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties. While the public at large thinks of firefighters as the people who run into burning buildings when others are running out, volunteer fire departments and rescue squads are often the ones who respond to calls for help of all kinds in their communities.

LEGISLATURE PASSES HISTORIC EARLY BUDGET

State Senator Patty Ritchie hailed last night’s early passage of a state budget that trims the size of government, makes major restorations in schools hardest hit by funding cuts, rejected job-killing tax increases, protects farmers and helps set New York on a path to economic recovery.The new budget closed a $10 billion gap without new taxes, yet still restored $4.3 million to school districts in the Senator’s district. Many of those schools were hard hit by a school aid funding formula that meant disproportionate cuts to rural and Upstate schools.

State Sales Tax Waiver On Some Purchases Will Help Save Families MoneyState Sen. SENATOR RITCHIE: SENATE STANDS UP FOR MAPLE PRODUCERS

Senate Recognizes Maple 'Sugar Shacks' As Farm Buildings; Honors Maple Industry    State Senator Patty Ritchie announced today the state Senate passed a bill she sponsored to make bureaucrats  recognize maple sugar shacks as agricultural buildings. The bill aims to cut red tape that threatens the state's growing maple industry. The Senate also passed a resolution, at the height of "sugaring season" throughout New York State, honoring the state's 550 maple producers whose efforts have made the Empire State the second largest maple producing state in the nation.

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT ON AG FUNDING

Both houses restore funds for programs ‘key to the future of family farms’

State Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Patty Ritchie and Assembly Agriculture Committee Chair William Magee announced today a budget agreement that fully funds critical farm research, education and assistance programs aimed at helping family farmers and strengthening rural New York’s farm economy.

The Joint Budget Subcommittee, comprising negotiators from both the Senate and Assembly, agreed on a total of $17.329 million to support local farm programs, including restoring funds for important programs that help make farming more profitable and successful for hardworking farm families.
