Babylon, NY -- Senator Phil Boyle (R-East Islip) introduced legislation that would amend New York's Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act, which was signed into law by Governor Cuomo on Tuesday.  The amendment would allow exemptions for retired law enforcement officers and is the first proposed amendment to the one-day old gun control law.  “I voted for this law because it increased penalties on crimes committed with guns,” said Senator Boyle.  “In the coming weeks, I will be offering a series of amendments to protect the Second Amendment rights of legal gun owners and to strengthen the law’s stated intent of protecting our children and neighbors.”
