Senator Boyle Hosts Operation Safe Child- A Free Child I.D. Program

In an effort to keep children safe Senator Boyle is teaming up with Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco and the Brightwaters Neighborhood Watch Group to offer parents and guardians free child ID cards under Operation SAFE CHILD on Saturday, June 14th. 

The Operation SAFE CHILD Card is a free program service administered by the New York State Sheriffs’ Association, Inc. with the technological support of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Senator Boyle to Host "Shed the Meds" Programs

Senator Phil Boyle urges residents to properly dispose of unused medications

Monday, June 2, 2014 - Bay Shore, NY - Every day in the United States  2,500 youth, ages 12 to 17, abuse a prescription pain reliever for the first time.  As the Chair of the Senate Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Committee, Senator Boyle believes it is imperative to bring this statistic down and stop the nation’s teens from using and exploring drugs and medications found around the home.  That is why Senator Boyle is hosting two “Shed the Meds” events on Saturday, June 7th and Saturday, July 12th.

Veteran of Distinction Awards Celebration

Senator Boyle joined with his fellow Senators for the Veteran’s Hall of Fame Celebration. Each year in Albany legislators take time to recognize outstanding Veterans from communities across the State. This year’s honoree from the Fourth Senate District was former Navy Petty Officer Third Class Armen Enkababian who served our country from 1966 to 1970. Petty Officer Enkababian received numerous awards and citations from the United States Navy in recognition of his outstanding service. Armen continues to serve our country through community involvement. Armen is known for his honesty, integrity and loyalty. He serves as post commander of the American Legion Post 94. He is also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Vietnam Veterans of America.

The Women of Distinction event is a time to honor outstanding women whose contributions have enriched the quality of life in communities across New York State.

Armen Enkababian

The only son of the late Antranik and Mary Enkababian, Armen was born at Parsons Hospital in Flushing, New York. He graduated from Flushing High School and attended Long Island University before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1966. Upon completion of basic training, he attended Radar “A” School and graduated near the top of his class; he then served on the USS John A. Bole, DD 755, a World War II era destroyer.

On his first overseas cruise, Radarman Third Class Enkababian was part of the naval presence in the Sea of Japan after the North Koreans seized the USS Pueblo. For their service during this difficult time, his ship was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for their two month deployment under adverse conditions.

Andrea Curran

Andrea Curran sprung into action and helped the Lyndenhurst community following the devastating aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. Ms. Curran played a pivotal role as the manager of the grassroots hurricane relief effort known as Camp Bulldog, which became active in the first few days following Superstorm Sandy and operated continuously for six months. 

During its operation, The Camp provided cleaning supplies, hot meals and information as well as much needed counseling and legal services to thousands of storm victims in Lindenhurst and the surrounding towns.
