Celebrating John Orozco – And His Mother

You should know that many years ago when I was first elected to the New York City Council, John Orozco´s mother, Damaris, came to my office to ask my son, Ruben Diaz Jr., and myself for any assistance that we could offer.

Without Per Diem Albany will be a Ghost Town

I heard that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Leaders of the NYS Legislative are in deep negotiations regarding pay increases for us the members of the NYS Legislature.

You should know that we as Legislators have not had a salary increase for more than ten years and that the hypocrisy of many of my colleagues is to say “NO” when asked if they will like to see their salary increased, even though most of them, just like me are in favor and wishing for it to happen soon.

You should know that it appears that Adriano Espaillat’s hope to become the first Dominican Member of the U.S. Congress is looking dimmer and dimmer as each moment passes.

Since the vote count began after New York’s Democratic Primary on June 26th, all indications have been that Congressman Charles Rangel would keep his lead over Senator Espaillat.

“IT SEEMS THAT THERE WAS A CAT IN THE BAG”

It so happens, that one week after the congressional elections and after Senator Adriano Espaillat conceded a defeat, it seems that as far as the count is concerned "there is a cat in the bag."
