This letter is to inquire why the Board of Regents limited students, in the thematic essay, to not use Brown vs. Board of Education, as they could use other important Supreme Court decisions, during the June 2014 United States History and Government Regents.

Once Again, Money for Education is Taken by the Bureaucracy
You should know that an article written by Aaron Short titled "DOE’s race to ‘divert’ fed $$ from students" appeared on page 2 of the July 5, 2014 edition of the New York Post. The article reported: "Less than a quarter of the $107 million that the school system received in federal Race to The Top funds last year was sent directly to school principals."
You should know that on June 10, 2014, a California judge ruled that teacher tenure laws in California are unconstitutional. Plaintiffs in that lawsuit argued that the rights of students who attend poor and minority schools are violated because their schools are disproportionately staffed by ineffective and bad teachers, and those bad teachers are protected by tenure.
Senators Rubén Díaz and Jeff Klein, together with Assemblymen Marcos Crespo and Luis Sepulveda, will be presenting Certificates of Merit to the more than 75 adult graduates of the Shany Maintenance School during their graduation ceremony. The ceremony will take place tonight, Friday July 18, 2014, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Renaissance Adult Center located at 787 East 156th Street, Bronx, NY 10459.
