You should know that it was a perfect coup, well planned, well organized, and nicely orchestrated. Those behind it should be congratulated. They even convinced some Senators to change their minds at the last minute, even those who had already committed and had given their assurance to Senator John Sampson of their "loyalty." Shame on them!

Watch out for Albany's new Four Amigos
12:01 am | 12/11/2012 | El Diario
The "coalition" of Independent Democrats and Republicans that took control of the New York State Senate last week threatens to suppress the voices and participation of Latino, African-American and Asian lawmakers. This so-called coalition is dominated by white lawmakers. Since communities of color account for 50% of the state's population, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and advocacy groups must push for diversity in the Senate.
This week we learned that the Independent Democratic Conference, who broke away from the rest of the Democrats after the 2010 elections, will form a coalition government with the GOP. Bronx State Senator Jeff Klein, the head of the IDC, will share the title of president with current Majority Leader Dean Skelos when the legislative session begins in 2013.
As you know, I have been as unusually, uncharacteristically, uncustomary, and uncommonly quiet as possible during the latest Albany brouhaha about the future of the New York State Senate.
News articles and blogs appear daily about the back and forth bickering and dickering among New York’s State Senators about who will control the Senate and what impact the Senate Independent Democratic Conference will have on the Senate.
You should know that I have been reading, here and there, different statements attributed to me, and some of them indicating my willingness to give my support for the State Senate to Dean Skelos and the Republican Conference.
What they are doing now is no different than what the four amigos did before.
Below, Please read an article published in today’s New York Post Editorial. I believe that New York media is starting to see the light about what is going on in Albany with the negotiations that are happening as we speak.
The Four Amigos, The Four Independents, and Simcha Felder. What’s the Difference? Are They Colorblind?
You should know that there are some very interesting and unexpected things happening in New York politics.
As you know, in this past General Election, with Barack Obama’s name at the top of the ticket, the Democratic Party claimed many, many victories in New York State to the point that the Democrats were prepared to take charge of the State Senate.
Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz Marks the 11th Anniversary of American Airlines Flight 587
New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) released the following statement:
"As a New York State Senator and as the President of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization, I join with all New Yorkers to remember and honor the lives we lost 11 years ago when American Airlines Flight 587, bound for Santo Domingo, crashed in Belle Harbor killing all 260 people on board and 5 people on the ground.
We know that November 12th is an especially painful day for New York's Dominican community and also for the people in the Rockaways. We will not forget the victims of this tragedy.
You should know that New York State Senate Democratic Majority Leader John Sampson and New York State Democratic Senate Campaign Committee Leader Senator Mike Gianaris have pulled off one of the biggest victories in New York State election history, even when all odds, predictions, criticisms, news reports, editorial pages, and most importantly, Governor Andrew Cuomo – the leader of the State Democratic Party – were against them.
You should know that the Saturday, October 27th New York Post column “State Dems shaking off scandals in polls” used the photos of three minority Senate Democrats: Pedro Espada, Jr., Hiram Monserrate, and Shirley Huntley to highlight corruption in the State Senate.
Governor Cuomo’s not only working against the Democratic Party but also against Black and Hispanics in New York State
You should know that recently, Governor Andrew Cuomo publicly endorsed Republican Senator Stephen Saland against his Democratic opponent. Governor Cuomo claims that he did so because Senator Saland voted to legalize gay marriage in New York State.
How many Democrats in New York State are stepping up to criticize our fearless leader as he breaks rank to endorse a Republican opponent for State Senate?
