New York State Senate Puerto Rican and Latino Caucus to Host Public Meeting on “The State of The Latino Women Entrepreneurs”

Bronx, NY- State Senator Rubén Díaz, Chairman of the New York State Senate Puerto Rican and Latino Caucus, announced that the Caucus will host a Public Meeting to hear testimonies from interested individuals about The State of the Latino Women Entrepreneurs in New York State. “Oral and written testimonies related to issues and concerns, affecting Latino Women in business will be presented,” Sen. Diaz expressed.The meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 10 am to 1 pm, and will be held at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center – Auditorium, located at 234 East 149th Street, Bronx, NY 10451.

“Governor David A. Paterson has called the Legislature back to Albany on November 29, 2010 in order to address so-called ‘unfinished business’.

“I will be present for this session.

“What I will not do is vote for any more cuts, especially cuts that will harm senior citizens, the Black and Hispanic community, and our children’s education.

“I was re-elected with a strong mandate from my community to protect their services, not to cut them, especially during this holiday season.

Senator Rev. Rubén Díaz Announces $3 Million in Capital Grants

 

Bronx, NY - State Senator Rev. Rubén Díaz (SD 32) today announced the availability of over $3 million in capital grants to twenty organizations in his district.

 

“I am proud to announce these much-needed grants,” stated Senator Díaz. “The organizations that will receive these capital funds provide extremely important services to the community. These grants will improve services, and ultimately, the beneficiaries are the people who live in the 32nd Senatorial District,” concluded Senator Díaz.

Thank you for your editorial in which you support my legislation (S.3149-Diaz/A.4704-Ball) to ban legislators’ outside income (Our View: Outlawing state legislators outside income a good idea).  In response to your statement that “we haven’t found much for which to praise state Sen. Ruben Diaz, Sr.,” I would like to offer the following comments.

If your only concerns are gay marriage and abortion, then your statement bears some merit.  I oppose gay marriage and I oppose abortion, and I always will.
