Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz Announces Children’s New York Evangelical Parade

Senator Reverand Ruben Diaz invites all to attend and participate in the New York Children’s Evangelical Parade. This parade, in which many churches participate with floats and other types of demonstrations, is organized by the New York Evangelical Association of New York, which is presided over by Reverend Luis Serrano.

The parade will be held this Saturday, June 20th. The parade will kick off at 12 noon from 97th Street and Third Avenue. The parade will go up Third Avenue to 119th Street. The reviewing stand will be located on Third Avenue and 116th Street.

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) will stand by the Senate Democratic Conference and will not be joining his fellow “Amigo” Senators Pedro Espada and Hiram Monserrate in the new bipartisan coalition.

Senator Diaz stated:

 “I will not join with them because I do not trust billionaire Tom Golisano, who reminds me of the opportunists in the South Bronx who abandoned my neighborhood when The Bronx was allegedly burning.

HPV Prevention Legislation (S4779-A/A6702-C)

The growing rate of infection for the human papillomavirus (HPV) in young girls is indeed alarming. While the HPV vaccine may be effective in preventing infection in a number of cases, the methods that our State uses to encourage distribution of this vaccine must be closely monitored. Presently, Senator Krueger and Assemblymember Paulin are sponsoring legislation (S.4779-A/A.6702-C) that would allow minor children under the age of 18 to receive the HPV vaccine without parental consent.

Senate Aging Committee Moves Snap Bill Forward To Finance Committee

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz is pleased that Senate Bill S3340A   (Diaz, et.al.) was voted out of the Aging Committee during this morning’s meeting and has been reported to the Finance Committee with the hope of   being voted on by the Senate this session.   The goal of this legislation is to eliminate waiting lists for home delivered meals and to reduce the financial burden on local counties, many of   whom subsidize this state program with local taxpayer dollars.

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz an Evangelical Pastor of the Christian Community Neighborhood Church in The Bronx, strongly condemns the killing of Dr. George Tiller of Wichita, Kansas. Senator Reverend Diaz stated, “As the President of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization and an Evangelical Minister, I have always opposed and will oppose the killing of unborn babies, especially the grisly procedure of “partial-birth abortion,”  done throughout the ninth month of pregnancy.
