Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz is officially sworn in to his seat as Member of the New York State Senate by Senior Associate Judge of the Court of Appeals, The Hon. Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick, while joined by assemblyman Ruben Diaz Jr., and Assemblyman and Bronx County Chairman Carl Heastie. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 in the NYS senate Chambers.

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D- Bronx) will Chair a Public Hearing on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 6 of the Empire State Plaza – Concourse Level in Albany. This public hearing will accept oral and written testimony regarding Senate Bill 1645 introduced by Senator Diaz which creates the New York State Prescription Medication Cost Containment Program. The legislation is modeled after a successful program that was implemented by Schenectady County in 2005.

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) and New York State Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. (D-Bronx) are delighted that New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has announced new Department of Motor Vehicles policy that will allow immigrants to apply for New York drivers’ licenses.

"I congratulate Governor Spitzer for this effort to permit undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers’ licenses," stated Senator Diaz, a Member of the Social Services, Children and Families Committee.
