Diamond Bar, Calif., August 23, 2011 - New York State Senator Shirley L. Huntley Welcomes the Black College Expo (BCE) to New York to help students and their families with the college admission process.

Southeast Queens is at the epicenter of the national mortgage crisis. Homeowners in the district, I represent continue to need access to information and quality services, at a time when the media and federal government’s attention are beginning to move away from the plight of homeowners. Our community is built around the institutions of church and family. We must draw on these strengths to build the supportive environment that homeowners at-risk of foreclosure will need now and in the future. The obstacles that many of them face prevents stable and long-term homeownership from occurring within our communities.
