When I went to Albany on Day One, I went there with the understanding that sometimes I may agree with my colleagues and sometimes I may not. State Senator Shirley L. Huntley (D-Queens) today applauded an agreement on a series of reforms that will strengthen ethics laws and practices in Albany.

State Senator Shirley L. Huntley (D-Queens) reminds New Yorkers that despite the recent 34th anniversary of an historic Supreme Court decision upholding a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health choices, access to safe and legal abortion services remains in jeopardy.
"While the importance of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling should not be underestimated, it would be an even greater mistake to underestimate the forces at work in our country today to limit or overhaul the meaning and authority of that decision," said Senator Huntley.

Huntley (D-Queens) today encouraged every adult woman to take advantage of Pap smear screening, which tests for cancer of the cervix, the lower, narrow end of the uterus or womb. January is Cervical Cancer Screening Month. "With the start of a new year, as many of us make resolutions to improve our lives, January is a perfect time to make an appointment to be screened," Senator Huntley said.
