Senator Huntley Encourages Participation in ‘National Night Out’
Tuesday, August 3rd is America’s Night Out Against Crime
In an effort to increase public awareness and encourage participation in local anticrime efforts, Senator Huntley (D-Jamaica) notes that Tuesday, August 3rd (between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm) is National Night Out — “America’s Night Out Against Crime.” An event which is beneficial to all.
Senator Huntley stood in solidarity with the community on Saturday, June 05, 2010, expressing to them that we must work as a group to gain control of our community(s). Senator Huntley is encouraged by the programs available to address violence and illegal guns; such as Mother’s Against Guns (MAG), founded by Elizabeth Bishop-Goldsmith and Cash for Guns Program. The Senator further expressed that it is our duty as elected officials to try and make our communities as safe as possible. Senator Huntley believes these programs are great initiatives to curbing violence and she will always be there to support the community in any way possible.
During the Stop the Violence event hosted by SNUG on February 19, 2011, many were present to show support for the group’s effort. New York State Senator Shirley L. Huntley (D-Jamaica) was among those present to show her appreciation and gratitude for the group’s efforts in removing guns from high crime areas. She also thanked them for their endless campaign to educate the public about guns, gangs and violence. Senator Huntley continues to support SNUG and their valiant mission to end violence from neighborhoods and communities around New York.
