The Senate Democratic Majority announced the passage of a comprehensive 9-point package of legislation providing New Yorkers with disabilities expanded access to polling places, transportation and medical equipment, as well outlawing discriminatory practices in employment, housing and public services.

5/3/2011: Housing Works Lobby Day

Housing Works vistited Senator Huntley to discuss S. 2873: The Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GEND) sponsored by Senator Duane. This bill is the first step to ending the legal discrimination and social barriers faced by transgender people.

GENDA will:

Ensure equality in education, housing, healthcare and employment regardless of gender expression or identity
Enhance safety for all transgender people, especially the poor and homeless at high risk of getting HIV
Promote culturally competent medical care and delivery

**PRESS RELEASE**

On a day celebrating a new year, four bombings occurred in Southeast Queens causing extensive property damage to one home, but fortunately no lives were lost.  The arson attacks were committed by using Molotov cocktails on the Imam Al-Khoei Islamic Center, a bodega on Hillside Avenue and two homes; all of which took place within miles of each other in Jamaica, Queens.
