Senator Huntley and fellow community leaders held the 2010 United States Census Kick-Off at Robert Johnson Life Center. She addressed the residence as to the importance of the census giving out informative literature to provide further knowledge fo why we all need to be counted.
On Thursday, February 18, 2010, Senator Shirley L. Huntley held a luncheon at Grace Houses with the seniors to honor Black History Month, and to reflect and focus on contributions made to the community and families that have shaped and upheld the community. Senator Huntley provided lunch for 35 seniors from the community and she discussed the importance of the Census for the senior population.

We would like to see the following charter laws amended:
Equal Per Pupil Funding, Facilities Funding, Charter Contracts and By-Laws, State Receivership, Independent Parent Association, Accountability and Transparency, Parent Voice, Parent Rights, Student Rights, Co-locations and Charter Cap.
