Michael Tokarz

Sergeant Michael Tokarz joined the United States Army in 1979. Michael was assigned as an Infantry Paratrooper to the First Special Operations Command. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Urgent Fury in 1982. 

During his four years of active duty he and his unit operated in Panama, Egypt, Sudan, Korea, Europe, and Honduras from their home base at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. After leaving active duty he was assigned to numerous Reserve Units as he moved from technical college to new jobs. He served as a Drill Instructor, Combat Engineer, and Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. He finally left the Reserves in 1990.

Gaye Mallet

Gaye Mallet’s signature talent is establishing and expanding human resource departments for growing companies and is currently the Human Resources Director for Adams Fairacre Farms, Inc. In the 15 years she has been at Adams, she has overseen 70% employee growth and development with the addition of new departments and two new stores. Adams currently employs just over one thousand people.

Michael Burke was born on September 4th, 1949.  After graduating from Wyandanch Memorial High School in 1968, he worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City, until he was drafted into the United States Army in April 1969.

Vicki Simons

The Local Food Movement in the Hudson Valley lost a strong spokesperson and organizer when Victoria A. Simons died in March 2010.

Throughout her life, Ms. Simons was an exemplary community leader and activist. As founding member and first Executive Director of Columbia County Bounty, she spearheaded expansion of the Bounty model to Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties, which now all operate under the Hudson Valley Bounty banner. She worked tirelessly to raise the public profile of local food resources, resulting in heightened awareness and increased community-based action.

Ralph Kring

Ralph Raymond Kring was born on January 9, 1926 to Ira Raymond and Helen M. Darrow Kring. He graduated from Hudson High School and then volunteered for service in the Army in 1944. Upon completion of infantry basic training, paratroop training and advanced training in demolition, he was shipped to the Philippines in 1945. While landing in the Philippines, his troop’s records were lost when they came under fire and two landing craft were sunk.
