Senator Oppenheimer: Give Blood Now To Boost Low Blood Supply

State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D- Mamaroneck) today issued an urgent call to Mamaroneck residents to give blood and help relieve the community’s blood shortage. According to the Westchester lawmaker, available blood levels suitable for donation are in danger of becoming critically low. Senator Oppenheimer Applauds State Sales Tax Exemption On Clothing And Footwear

Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) reported that New Yorkers will no longer have to pay the State sales tax on purchases of clothing and footwear $110 or less, as of April 1 of this year. On that date, New York joined Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont in exempting clothing from the sales tax base. "The Senate Minority have worked for years on this very important piece of tax relief," said Senator Oppenheimer.

Donate Used Ink Cartridges To Help Save Homeless Pets

Speaking as a dog lover, State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) today announced a new charitable program that will help to save the lives of hundreds of abandoned pets. The program sponsored through the pet store chain, PetSmart, will cost nothing -- just a donation of used ink cartridges. Each cartridge sent or brought in will provide $2.00 to PetSmart Charities and go a long way in saving abandoned animals. "This is a very unique and innovative program.
