Senator Oppenheimer's Legislation providing for Liscensure of Electrical Inspectors in Westchester County is Signed Into Law

Senator Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) is pleased to announce that her bill, S. 5713, which provides for the licensing of electrical inspectors by the county of Westchester, was recently signed into law by Governor Paterson.


NYS Senate Westchester Delegation to Hold Hearings on Executive Budget for 2010-11


In an effort to more effectively advocate for the needs and concerns of their constituents, the five New York senators representing Westchester County will convene a public hearing to assess the priorities and impacts of Governor Paterson’s proposed SFY 2010-2011 budget on the residents, communities, organizations and elected officials of Westchester.  Senator Suzi Oppenheimer chairs the Westchester Senate delegation, which includes Senators Ruth Hassell-Thompson, Jeff Klein, Vincent Leibell, and Andrea Stewart-Cousins.



Senator Suzi Oppenheimer Announces National Foundation for Women Legislators' Essay Contest

Seven female high school junior and senior students will win an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) annual conference and receive a $3,000 college scholarship. Applicants must write an essay addressing this year’s topic, “Freedom and Civic Virtues,” which calls upon students to describe how moral principles and the United States Bill of Rights shape the role of young adults in civic engagement. 


Senator Oppenheimer gives commencement address to 2011 graduates of Long Island University, Westchester/Rockland Campuses

On May 18, 2011, Senator Suzi Oppenheimer gave the commencement address at Long Island University's Westchester and Rockland campuses.  Congratulating the Class of 2011, the Senator shared some of the lessons she has learned and the advice she found useful in her own journey to a fulfilling life and career.

Oppenheimer Applauds Governor's Signing of Bill Allowing Purchase College to Build Senior Learning Community

Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) today hailed Governor Cuomo for signing into law her bill authorizing Purchase College to lease land for the development of a senior residential learning center on campus (S.1846A).

“I have been working closely with University administrators for many, many years to bring this innovative public-private partnership approach to SUNY, “ said Senator Oppenheimer.  “The senior learning community was eagerly sought by both University officials and seniors who came to me for assistance in getting this legislation passed.”
