Many Taxpayers May Overlook Valuable Tax Credit In today’s difficult economy, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) can make life a little easier for workers and their families struggling to make ends meet. Yet, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) estimates that one in four eligible taxpayers could miss out on this valuable tax credit because they aren’t aware that they qualify.
Acknowledging the difficult economic circumstances facing schools throughout the State, the Senate Education Committee, chaired by Senator Suzi Oppenheimer, today took decisive action to assist school districts in meeting their considerable fiscal challenges. Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) co-hosted with Assemblyman George Latimer a Westchester town hall forum addressing state funding for long-term health care services. The forum, which was organized by the Continuing Care Leadership Coalition (CCLC), was held on January 15, 2010 at the United Hebrew Geriatric Center in New Rochelle.

Recognizing the importance of an accurate and complete count of all residents residing in Westchester County, Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) is actively assisting local communities in her Senate district in their 2010 census outreach efforts.
The 2009 Education Committee Report documents the activities of the Committee for the 2009 legislative session. In order to create a cover for the report, Senator Oppenheimer sponsored an art contest for children in first through third grade, within her district. One winner was chosen for the cover and five runners-up were chosen to be included within the report.
