OP-ED: SEN. GIPSON & ASM. LALOR JOIN TO END UNFUNDED MANDATES

It’s no secret that we don’t see eye to eye on every issue.

However, we were both elected last year as outsiders committed to reforming our state government and reducing the cost of living in our community. We both understand the burden unfunded mandates place on local governments, school districts and, ultimately, taxpayers.

Engaging Senator Schumer with my TickBITE Act

I applaud Senator Schumer for coming to Dutchess County to bring awareness and taking action on this important issue on the federal level. I have introduced the TickBITE Act and other legislation on the state level to address the seriousness of Lyme disease and tick-borne illness. It is crucial that those affected by this disease are cared for while we expand our efforts for research and education. I look forward to working with Senator Schumer to better protect the health of all New Yorkers.

WAMC: NYS Senator, Assemblyman Join To Tackle Unfunded Mandates

Check out the WAMC's coverage of the Senator's bipartisan efforts with Assemblyman Lalor:

A state senator and assemblyman, both from the Hudson Valley, say they have a bipartisan solution to curb unfunded mandates. They also say they are banding together as outsiders and want their constituents to know about it.

About three months ago, Democratic state Senator Terry Gipson proposed a state constitutional amendment to prohibit certain unfunded mandates. He says the measure is a bold one.
