Dear Friend,

I want to share with you a recently published editorial in the Poughkeepsie Journal, entitled “State must help doctors fight Lyme," which calls on the State Senate Health Committee to move my legislation, S.5520B, to help those suffering from Lyme Disease. My bill would protect a patient's right to be treated by their physician for long-term antibiotic therapy and protect physicians from disciplinary action for such treatment.

The senators asked that the Governor direct the state’s Public Service Commission (PSC) to use funds from the System Benefits Charge (SBC) to mitigate the rate increase from the federally mandated energy capacity zone.

Charles J. Moore

Sergeant Charles J. Moore comes from a long line of patriots who have served our great nation.

In November 1962, at the age of 17, Charles enlisted in The United States Marine Corps, completed 12 weeks of Basic Training at Parris Island, South Carolina, and eight weeks of Advanced Infantry Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, at Camp Pendleton, California, for further training. He served in both 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions.

Luader Smith

Luader Smith is a native Mississippian and a third generation preacher, following in line with her grandfather and mother. Her lifelong calling is to serve God, church and community. The Springfield Baptist Church, Beacon, New York, has journeyed with her through discernment and training, authorizing her ministry through ordination.

Reverend Smith was given a spiritual vision to establish a shelter for victims of domestic violence. With blessings from God and all those supporting her vision of 2002, it was realized in 2008.

SENATOR GIPSON CONTINUES TO FIGHT AGAINST FEDERAL CAPACITY ZONES

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) continues to urge the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) to halt their proposed federally mandated capacity zones. Senator Gipson has opposed the capacity zones since the plans onset. He issued an official letter to FERC and NYISO on March 6 urging them to stop the capacity zones, and recently held a conference call with Ms. Cheryl LaFleur, Acting Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Chairman LeFleur listened to Senator Gipson’s concerns, but was not permitted to officially comment since the plan is still pending.

“I urge the Federal Government to listen to our community. Local leaders at all levels of government and residents continue to make it clear that the proposed capacity zones would be a harsh and unfair blow to hardworking families and businesses in the Hudson Valley.
