We are writing to thank the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) for its thorough review of plans submitted for a new building at 178 Bleecker Street in Manhattan, which resulted in DOB’s January 7, 2010 notice of Intent to Revoke Approval for the construction of an eight-story building on the site.

I would like to thank the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) for swiftly responding to illegal, multistory signage which covers much of the Equinox facility located at 97 Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan and for issuing 13 code and zoning violations. While I appreciate this very important first step, unfortunately, the advertisements remain in place.

Letter to Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the Lifting of the Entry Ban for HIV-Positive Foreign Nationals

January 4, 2010 marked the official end of the United States' ban on HIV-positive foreign nationals' entry, stay and residence in our country, bringing to a close 22 years of shameful and misguided policy. President Obama deserves the highest praise for initiating and completing the long-overdue repeal of this meritless regulation. I am proud that our country's policy is now in line with current science and international standards of public health and human rights practice, and has taken this step toward eroding, and no longer perpetuating, prejudice and stigma around HIV.
