According to news reports, a Cuomo administration cabinet meeting this morning should include a public briefing "on a long-awaited Department of Health study on the impact of allowing hydrofracking in New York State."

Regional airports awarded state funding, O'Mara praises 'smart investments' in local economy

Elmira, N.Y., December 16—Several regional airport projects are among 26 aviation projects statewide being awarded a total of $9 million to enhance safety, security and economic development, it was announced in Albany today.

O'Mara named to Farm Bureau 'Circle of Friends' for commitment to New York's farm families

Elmira, N.Y., December 11—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,I,C-Big Flats) has been named to the 2014 New York Farm Bureau "Circle of Friends" -- an honorary organization formed in 1990 by the state’s leading farm advocacy organization to recognize state legislators who strongly support agriculture.  

The Farm Bureau represents more than 35,000 member farm families statewide.

O'Mara welcomes new round of state aid for regional economic development -- Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions recognized as 'Top Performers' (UPDATED)

Albany, N.Y., December 11—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) welcomed today’s announcement that the Southern Tier region will be awarded a total of $80.8 million and the Finger Lakes region $80.7 million under the fourth round of funding through the state’s Regional Economic Development Councils (REDC) initiative.

O’Mara noted that both the Southern Tier and the Finger Lakes regions are among the five regions that are recognized as a “Top Performer” in this year’s competition.  The other Top Performers this year are Central New York, Mid-Hudson and Long Island.

O'Mara issues reminder on correction officer recruitment ~ Deadline for submitting application is November 25 ~ Find out more

Elmira, N.Y., November 21—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) reminded area residents today that the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) is currently undertaking a statewide correction officer recruitment effort.

A state Civil Service examination to fill new positions has been scheduled for January 10, 2015.  

Anyone interested in taking the exam must file an application by next Tuesday, November 25, 2014.

Albany, N.Y., November 20--Legislation to further strengthen New York State's burgeoning craft beverage industry by eliminating burdensome regulations on producers, easing marketing restrictions and other actions has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The new law was co-sponsored by Senator Tom O'Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning).
