While hundreds of thousands of our fellow New Yorkers were still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, yesterday's Nor'easter battered these communities again with more wind, rain, snow and power outages.

State Legislature gives OK to legislation strengthening 'Emergency Services Revolving Loan Fund'



Albany, N.Y., June 5—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) has voted in favor of legislation unanimously approved by the Senate late yesterday to strengthen a key New York State assistance program to help local volunteer fire departments and emergency squads – as well as cities, counties, towns and villages -- repair and purchase firefighting and rescue equipment, and meet other emergency services infrastructure needs.

O'Mara issues reminder on state-sponsored emergency preparedness training program on Saturday, June 7th, in Chemung County ~ online preregistration required, sign up now

Horseheads, N.Y., May 30 — State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) reminded area residents today that a state-sponsored “Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program” will be held at Horseheads High School on Saturday, June 7,  2014.

The program is free of charge but participants must complete an online registration prior to the event.  According to the office of Governor Andrew Cuomo, registration is limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
