Senator O'Mara and Assemblyman Friend will meet with constituents later today at Elmira College

Elmira, N.Y., January 25—New York State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) and Assemblyman Chris Friend (R-Big Flats) reminded area residents today that they will hold a community meeting in Elmira on Thursday, January 26, 2012.

Thursday’s meeting in Elmira is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Elmira College’s Hamilton Hall.


State begins new competitive grant program to encourage local government efficiency and cost cutting, ease property tax burden

Albany, N.Y., May 17—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Elmira) alerted local leaders across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions today that a new state competitive grant program is underway that will award state grants to assist local government initiatives to reduce government costs and ease the burden on local property taxpayers.

O’Mara said that the new program was created as part of last year’s state budget.


O'Mara, colleagues move to end unfunded state mandates as part of comprehensive reform effort

Albany, N.Y., June 10--The State Senate today kicked off a comprehensive effort announced late last week to reform state rules, regulations and mandates by approving a series of relief measures including legislation co-sponsored by Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) to end the practice of unfunded state mandates on local governments and school districts.

The O’Mara-sponsored legislation was approved by the Senate by a vote of 51 to 9.


Regional airports awarded state funding, O'Mara praises 'smart investments' in local economy

Elmira, N.Y., December 16—Several regional airport projects are among 26 aviation projects statewide being awarded a total of $9 million to enhance safety, security and economic development, it was announced in Albany today.

State Senator Tom O'Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) welcomed the announcement.
