Albany, N.Y.–The New York State Legislature has approved legislation sponsored by Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats), Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R-C-I, Corning) and Assemblyman Chris Friend (R-Big Flats) to permanently authorize rifle hunting in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties.

Governor okays permanent rifle hunting seasons in area counties

Albany, N.Y., July 22–Legislation sponsored this legislative session by New York State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats), Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R-C-I, Corning) and Assemblyman Chris Friend (R-Big Flats) to permanently authorize rifle hunting in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

O'Mara issues reminder that 2012-13 hunting and fishing licenses now on sale

Albany, N.Y., August 14—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) reminded area sportsmen and sportswomen today that 2012-2013 hunting, fishing and trapping licenses, and Deer Management Permits (DMPs), are now on sale at 1,500 license outlets statewide.

Reminder: DEC authorizes youth deer hunting season over Columbus Day weekend

A reminder from the state Department of Environmental Conservation:

Albany, N.Y.--The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has confirmed that junior hunters ages 14-15 will be able to hunt deer during a special youth firearms deer season over Columbus Day Weekend this year, October 6 through October 8, 2012.

"Implementation of this youth deer hunt is a hallmark moment for New York hunters and represents continued efforts of DEC to engage more young people in nature and outdoor recreation," said DEC Commissioner Joe Martens.
