Senate approves Seneca Lake Scenic Byway

Albany, N.Y., March 28—The New York State Senate has unanimously approved legislation sponsored by Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) and Senator Mike Nozzolio (R-C, Seneca Falls) to designate the Seneca Lake Scenic Byway between Schuyler and Seneca counties as a New York State Scenic Byway.

O'Mara: Hammondsport's 'Coolest Small Town' celebration this weekend a great kickoff to summer in the Finger Lakes

Hammondsport, N.Y., June 29—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) will join other area officials and community residents at tomorrow’s village-wide celebration of Hammondsport’s  designation as Budget Travel magazine’s “America’s Coolest Small Town 2012.”

“What a great way to help welcome another season of summer tourism in the Finger Lakes.  It took a fantastic, region-wide show of support to help Hammondsport rise to the top, and it’s a real tribute to one of our great Finger Lakes towns,” said O’Mara. “It helps remind the nation that the Finger Lakes region is alive and well, and still making unique and valuable contributions to America’s culture and economy.”


Seneca Lake Scenic Byway Signed Into Law

Albany, N.Y., August 2—New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua) and State Senators Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) and Mike Nozzolio (R-C, Seneca Falls) announced today that legislation they sponsored to designate the Seneca Lake Scenic Byway between Schuyler and Seneca counties as a New York State Scenic Byway, has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The Senate approved the legislation ((S.5818/A.8468, Chapter 310 of the Laws of 2012) in late March.  It was given final legislative approval in early June by the Assembly, where it was also cosponsored by Assemblymen Phil Palmesano (R-C, Corning) and Chris Friend (R-Big Flats).


Area leaders, residents welcome Seneca Lake Scenic Byway with ribbon cutting ceremony

Elmira, N.Y., September 27—New York State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) joined legislative colleagues, local leaders and members of the Seneca Lake Byway Committee for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday at the Valois-Logan-Hector Fire Hall to officially designate the Seneca Lake Scenic Byway.
