'Pearl Harbor survivor honored in Bath'

Bath, N.Y., December 9-- It was a quite a moving, patriotic ceremony in Bath yesterday as Senator O'Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, area veterans and members of the community gathered to pay tribute to the last remaining member of the Southern Tier Pearl Harbor Survivors Association -- 92-year-old Donald Bosket of East Campbell.

Albany, N.Y., January 15— Building on last year’s creation of a Hire-a-Vet tax credit to encourage businesses in New York State to hire returning veterans, State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) today joined a growing legislative effort this year to enact the “NY Jobs for Heroes Program” to assist New York State businesses owned by service-connected disabled veterans.

Albany, N.Y., March 20— Building on last year’s creation of a Hire-a-Vet tax credit to encourage businesses in New York State to hire returning veterans, the Legislature and Governor Andrew Cuomo  today announced an agreement to enact legislation, patterned after legislation co-sponsored by State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) known as the “NY Jobs for Heroes Program,” to assist New York State businesses owned by service-connected disabled veterans.

Senate approves 'Jobs for Heroes' program to assist disabled veterans

Albany, N.Y., March 24—Last year Governor Andrew Cuomo and the State Legislature enacted a Hire-a-Vet tax credit to encourage businesses in New York State to hire returning veterans.

Today, the New York State Senate unanimously approved legislation co-sponsored by Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) known as the “Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act” to build on last year’s tax credit and further assist New York State businesses owned by service-connected disabled veterans.

Legislation to assist NY's disabled vets signed into law

Albany, N.Y., May 13—Legislation co-sponsored by State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) to further assist New York State businesses owned by service-connected disabled veterans, has been signed into law.

The new law, known as the "Service-Disabled Veterans-Owned Business Act," builds on last year’s enactment of a “Hire-a-Vet” business tax credit that O’Mara also co-sponsored.

Albany, N.Y., May 20—At a late morning ceremony in the Legislative Office Building honoring decorated and distinguished veterans from across New York State, State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) and his colleagues today inducted Anthony J. “Tony” Specchio, Sr., a lifelong Watkins Glen resident and a fixture in civic and veterans affairs, into the New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
