Senate approves 'Dairy Farm Energy Assistance Fund' ~ O'Mara co-sponsors legislation, calling it a 'wise investment in the future of upstate dairy farms'

 

Albany, N.Y., May 29—The New York State Senate today approved legislation co-sponsored by Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) to establish a “Dairy Farm Improved Energy Efficiency Loan Fund.”

The legislation (S.1081/A.4021) passed the Senate by a vote of 60 to 1.

The proposed new loan fund, which would be administered by the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA), would provide state grants and low-interest loans to help dairy farmers undertake energy efficiency projects and purchase cutting-edge energy technologies.

O'Mara, Chemung County Sheriff welcome Eiger, the county's new K-9 officer

 

Senator O'Mara welcomed the opportunity to help welcome "Eiger," Chemung County's new K-9 officer, to his new home at the Chemung County Sheriff's Office.   

"We're proud to have Eiger here," the senator said of the 1 1/2-year-old German shepherd, who was certified last week with his handler Deputy David Padgett as a narcotics and tracking team.

Roswell L. Crozier, Jr.

Lieutenant Colonel Roswell L. Crozier, Jr. has dedicated a lifetime of service to his country, to his community and to Steuben County, New York. 

Enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps (later to become the United States Air Force) at the start of World War II, “Roz” Crozier served with the 443rd Troop Carrier Group and participated in many of the War’s signature battles and operations including the Invasion of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, Operation Crossbow and Operation Market Garden, as well as in the Ardennes, Rome-Arno and Rhineland campaigns. 

Among numerous military medals and campaign ribbons, Roz is a recipient of the Bronze Star, the fifth-highest combat decoration awarded by the United States Armed Forces.

Beverly Stamp

Beverly “Bev” Stamp is widely admired as an ambassador of New York State’s nationally and internationally renowned wine and grape industry.

After graduating from SUNY Morrisville in 1958 and marrying her college sweetheart, Charles LaMont “Monty” Stamp, the couple took over the Stamp family farm, Lakewood Vineyards, with its orchards and vineyards overlooking Seneca Lake, near Watkins Glen, New York. Here they raised four children and became industry stalwarts.

State Senate approves anti-fraud legislation co-sponsored by O'Mara

Albany, N.Y., May 9—The New York State Senate has approved legislation co-sponsored by Senator Tom O’Mara  (R-C, Big Flats) to target criminals, called “runners,” who are key players in the epidemic of fraud that especially plagues New York’s automobile insurance industry, drives up insurance rates for every state motorist and costs New Yorkers more than $1 billion annually.
