O'Mara legislation seeks to combat Medicaid fraud, other abuses

Albany, N.Y., April 28—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) is sponsoring legislation in the Senate (S.4614) to reimburse counties for the cost of purchasing cutting-edge computer software that could help pinpoint cases of Medicaid fraud and other abuses of the system and potentially save state and local taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.

Capitol Students

Albany, N.Y., April 13—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) was joined at the Capitol this week by two area high school students who were among 30 students from across the state participating in the 11th Annual “Students Inside Albany” conference sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New York State (LOWV).

O'Mara appointed to Rural Resources Commission

Albany, N.Y.—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) announced today that he has been appointed as one of five senators who will serve on the joint, bipartisan Legislative Commission on the Development of Rural Resources.

O’Mara’s appointment was made by Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.

Albany, N.Y., April 7—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) announced today that residents of his 53rd Senate District can now view a new, online “Legislative Report” -- a 15-minute interview highlighting legislative actions in Albany and their impact on the region. 

“I try to encourage as much input as possible from my constituents, and I also like to give them opportunities to hear my own views and thoughts on current issues being debated in Albany and having an impact throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions,” said O’Mara.

Senator O'Mara praises volunteer recruitment efforts planned for National Volunteer Week

Albany, N.Y., April 6—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) reminded area residents today that a number of the region’s volunteer fire departments will hold Open Houses this weekend as part of “Recruit NY,” a statewide initiative sponsored by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY), the state Association of Fire Chiefs and others to encourage the recruitment of local volunteer firefighters and EMTs.

O'Mara on state budget: fiscal discipline, attention to the economy
