BUFFALO, N.Y. – Western New York was shortchanged by about $167 million in infrastructure funding after the Department of Transportation made a human error while calculating allocation formulas for fiscal year 2008-2009. Senator Tim Kennedy, as a member of the Transportation Committee and ranking member of the Economic Development Committee, hosted a roundtable forum Monday to discuss the on-the-ground impact that the DOT funding shortfall has had on Western New York.

Unicell to Expand Operations in Buffalo

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, joined by Senator Tim Kennedy, announced that Unicell, a national and international leader in the designing and manufacturing of bodies for commercial trucks and vans will invest $3.46 million to expand its Howard Street facilities in Buffalo. On the strength of a $175,000 investment package from Empire State Development, Unicell will increase its manufacturing capacity to retain and create over 50 local jobs as part of a green initiative to assemble a cutting edge body for an electric truck.

Art Robinson believes a community is much more than just an area where you live. For Art, a community is a sense of belonging, a place to be proud of.

Art is the president of the Seneca-Babcock Block Club. He has demonstrated great leadership within the Seneca-Babcock community.

 Taking the reins

Stepping up as the president of the block club 11 years ago, Art believes, “To make a better community, people need to get involved.” Although he felt “drafted” as the block club president, Art said, “I’m glad I did this.”
