Senator Kennedy Open House -- Information on Art Show Submissions

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, invites his constituents to come join him at his district office for an open house on September 29, 2011. The open house, which runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will be an opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, learn about services available through the office and meet the Senator. As a supplement to the open house and to promote local cultural groups, Senator Kennedy is inviting local artists to submit artwork to his office for display during the open house. It will be an opportunity for local artists to connect with an audience that might otherwise not be introduced to their artwork.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – From the banks of the Niagara River at what is now Tow Path Park in the City of Buffalo, a group of Irish-Americans known as the Fenian Brotherhood – many of whom were Civil War veterans – embarked on a mission to take Canada from Great Britain in an effort to secure Irish independence in 1866. Their designed operation called for them to invade the British colony to our north, seize it and barter it with Great Britain in exchange for the freedom of their home country, the British colony across the ocean, Ireland.


Senator Kennedy, Library Officials Announce State Grants for Buffalo & Erie County Libraries

Buffalo Central Library Receives One of the Largest Grant Awards in the State

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, a member of the Senate Committee on Libraries, announced a significant state investment in local libraries Thursday at the Downtown Central Library. Joined by library officials and fellow state lawmakers, Senator Kennedy announced the state has directed $617,970 in construction and improvement grants to the Downtown Central Library, as part of the overall award of $740,000 to a total of four libraries in the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System.

Kennedy: In Polish, Dożynki means a celebration of harvest, but this year’s Dożynki Festival will be a celebration of the state’s long-awaited release of historic preservation funds for Corpus Christi.
