Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, advanced his fight to secure increased transportation aid for Western New York, at the confirmation hearing for Joan McDonald, Governor Cuomo’s appointee to take over the Department of Transportation.

When the DOT committed a human error in the calculation of the region’s funding formula, they ended up shortchanging Western New York to the tune of approximately $167 million.  Senator Kennedy, a member of the Transportation Committee, urged Commissioner McDonald to fix the funding disparity that Western New York has endured as a result of the miscalculation.

Senator Kennedy Announces Construction Resumes on South Park Avenue

Work restarted Monday, revitalization project expected to be completed in June

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, announced that work has resumed on South Park Avenue, as crews move toward the completion of the construction component of the South Park Avenue Revitalization Project.

With about 70 work days remaining in the 300-day project, it is expected that the work will be completed during the month of June – barring any unforeseen delays like poor weather. The project officially restarted Monday with workers beginning the process of streetlight installation.

Senator Kennedy: It's a Priority of WNY to Have UB 2020 in the Budget

Senator stands up for Western New York economy during budget debate, cites Republicans' failure to include UB 2020 as reason for 'No' vote on Senate bill

ALBANY, N.Y. - In the one-house budget bill the Senate voted on this week, Senator Timothy, M. Kennedy voted 'No', citing the Republicans' failure to include UB 2020 in their proposal.

The budget resolution that the Senate puts forward is essentially a list of budget priorities for the Senate. Senator Kennedy believes it is vital to the economic future of Western New York that UB 2020 is included in the budget proposal. 

Senator Kennedy on Budget: We Can’t Let the Exclusion of UB 2020 Kill our Efforts to Pass the Plan this Year

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, released this statement, following an initial review of the budget agreement announced Sunday by Governor Cuomo and the legislative leaders.

“I appreciate Governor Cuomo’s commitment to helping us grow the Western New York economy, and I look forward to the summit he will host to discuss how we can make UB 2020 a reality. However, I am disappointed that UB 2020 – a plan that will help spark new job creation in Western New York – was not included in the budget negotiations,” Senator Kennedy said. “I made a commitment to only vote for a budget that includes UB 2020 in its entirety. This budget does not do that.
