Senator Kennedy Releases Statement on the Death of Osama bin Laden

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, released the following statement regarding the death of Osama bin Laden, the leader of the terrorist group al-Qaida.

“The American military has been relentless throughout the war against terror, and the brave men and women who have led our nation’s pursuit of Osama bin Laden are to be commended for succeeding in the mission of toppling the leader of the al-Qaida terror network. As we reflect on the many sacrifices made and the many struggles endured since the September 11 terrorist attacks, let us also remember that there is still work to be done to protect our nation and keep our families safe,” Senator Kennedy said.

Over 200 Veterans visited Cheektowaga’s Pvt. Leonard Post V.F.W. Post to attend Senator Kennedy’s Veterans Outreach Fair and learn more about resources available to them.

Joining Forces to Remember, Honor Hispanic-American Veterans

BUFFALO, N.Y. – With Independence Day coming up tomorrow, Senator Tim Kennedy, D-58th District, and several prominent community leaders are joining forces to spread awareness of the many contributions of Hispanic-American Veterans. Efforts are underway to construct a Hispanic-American Veterans Memorial at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park, but more work remains before the monument can be completed.

Kennedy Calls for New System to Ensure National Guard Members Get Opportunity to Vote

Local National Guard members responding to Superstorm Sandy may miss opportunity to vote in this year’s presidential election.

Kennedy says brave men and women called into duty by disaster or security threat should have a chance to cast ballots.

Kennedy: When disaster strikes, the National Guard is there for New York State. Going forward, the state needs to be there for them and ensure they get ballots for commander-in-chief.

As Nation Celebrates Independence Secured by Armed Forces, Senator Kennedy Pushes for New Support for NY’s Military Families

Kennedy wants new legislation that will help military families live more comfortably and make ends meet, after making great sacrifices for state and nation.

Kennedy’s bills will provide tuition assistance for children whose parents served in armed forces, help vets and their families cover property tax bills, boost veterans’ access civil-service jobs.

Kennedy: Entire families bear the burden of sacrifice when a son or daughter, husband or wife, father or mother is called to duty to protect our freedom and security. Our state must do more to support military families.

60 Years After Armistice Ended Korean War, Senator Kennedy Helps Korean War Veteran Finally Secure State Honors

After contacting Kennedy for help, Buffalo resident Bob Lucia finally gains access to state medals he earned while serving in Korea.

Veterans who may have earned but not yet received medals of recognition from New York State are encouraged to contact Senator Kennedy’s office. 

Kennedy: The Korean War came to an end 60 years ago today, and it’s fitting that on this day – after 60 years of waiting – Corporal Lucia is finally granted the honors he earned for his valiant service in Korea.

Senator Kennedy Unveils New Bill to Help Veterans Secure SUNY Credit for Military Training

At Veterans Forum and Services Fair, Kennedy outlined the VETS Credits Act, which will make college more affordable for veterans and help them complete coursework faster.

Senator Kennedy Announces Senate Approval of Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act

Senator Kennedy cosponsored bill to help veteran-owned businesses gain access to state contracts.

Recent estimates have indicated that approximately 1,000 veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan were unemployed in WNY.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senator Tim Kennedy, D-Buffalo, announced the New York State Senate today passed the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act, which will provide veteran-owned businesses with increased access to state contracts. Senator Kennedy cosponsored this legislation (S.6865) to help level the playing field for veterans who are competing with much larger operations to secure state business.
