Senator Kennedy Demands Increased State Resources for Local Child Protection Services

At public hearing today in Albany, Kennedy says there’s an urgent need for additional state resources for local CPS agencies in light of recent child fatalities in Erie County. 

ALBANY, N.Y. – At a public hearing where state lawmakers explored the budget’s impact on human services, Senator Tim Kennedy, D-Buffalo, made a forceful plea for increased state resources for local child protection services in Western New York and across the state. In light of recent child fatalities in Erie County, Kennedy says there is a dire need for new support for child protection services.

Senator Kennedy Announces Legislation to Increase Mandated Abuse Reporters Working in Schools

State Senate passes bill that Senator Kennedy cosponsored to expand and clarify school officials required to report suspected child abuse by designating school coaches as mandated reporters.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senator Tim Kennedy, D-Buffalo, announced the New York State Senate passed legislation to increase the ranks of mandated reporters working in schools across the state. The legislation, which Senator Kennedy cosponsored, will expand and clarify the school officials required to report suspected child abuse by designating school coaches as mandated reporters.

Senator Kennedy, Family of Jackie Wisniewski Push for Jackie’s Law

Jackie’s Law will make it a criminal offense to install a GPS tracking device with the intent to stalk or constantly follow the location or movement of another person. 

Prior to her death, Jackie found a GPS device installed on her car, tracking her whereabouts. 

Kennedy: Jackie’s Law will ensure anyone who uses a GPS device to stalk their victim ends up behind bars. Survivors of domestic violence are in dire need of this protection.

Senator Kennedy Announces New Law to Strengthen Protections Against Dangerous Repeat Sex Offenders

Kennedy-backed Legislation, Now Signed into Law by the Governor, Closes Loophole that had Weakened Crime of Persistent Sexual Abuse.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Tim Kennedy, D-Buffalo, announced strong legislation, which he cosponsored in the Senate, to impose harsher penalties against repeat sex offenders has been signed into law. This new law closes a dangerous loophole that had weakened New York State’s criminal statutes against sexual predators and toughens the crime of persistent sexual abuse.
