Senator Stavisky Presents Flushing-Area Synagogue with Check for Capital ADA Improvements

Senator Toby Ann Stavisky presented the Israel Center of Conservative Judaism with a check for $50,000 to make their restrooms accessible to the disabled (l to r: Mel Kaufman, State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Rabbi Robyn Fryer Bodzin, and Synagogue President Marilyn Kaufman). The improvements will allow people with handicapping conditions to attend community events at the Center, which includes a school for children with special needs.

"This synagogue is an important institution in the Flushing community and everyone should be able to make use of its facilities,” Stavisky said. “I am proud to have requested the funds, which were allocated in the 2009 budget, for these long-overdue improvements.”
