During session January 10, 2012, the State Senate paused in its deliberations to honor the Asian-American Community on the occasion of the Lunar New Year through Senate Resolution 2844. Senator Stavisky, who represents over 100,000 Asian-Americans in the 16th District, spoke in support of the resolution, which commemorates the Asian Lunar year 4710, the Year of the Dragon. Senator Stavisky spoke with pride about the Lunar New Year celebration in Flushing, an area she represents. The resolution was adopted unanimously.
