The New York State Senate unanimously passed Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky’s bill that would increase transparency of the Board of Trustees of the state and city universities and the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) by making resolutions and board actions available to the public seven days after the meeting.

The State Senate passed Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky’s bill, S1736B, ensuring the objectivity of SUNY and CUNY Trustees by limiting the appointments to those who do not work directly for the Governor or Mayor.

Sen. Stavisky addresses graduates at Queensborough Community College

Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky, a keynote speaker at Queensborough Community College's commencement ceremony, urged the graduates not to sit back and let history be written for them, but to move forward and write it themselves.  She also presented the Queensborough Community College's president, Dr. Eduardo Marti, with a Senate proclamation honoring the CUNY campus' 50th anniversary.

Sen. Stavisky urges college students to get involved in the budget process

Senator Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Whitestone) is using today’s Higher Education budget hearing as a way of drawing attention to the significant cuts to SUNY, CUNY and programs at private institutions, as well as urge students to get involved in this year’s budget process and to share their stories, ideas and concerns.
