The State Senate has passed legislation (S.854) sponsored by Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) that would give local governments new ways to collect and dispose of delinquent real property tax liens.
Currently, municipalities have very limited means of expediting the collection of delinquent taxes. These uncollected taxes seriously impact the municipalities' ability to meet their operating expenses and provide for the delivery of critical local services.
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced that the Legislature has reached agreement on a plan to provide New Yorkers with relief from high gas prices by capping and reducing the state sales taxes on gasoline.
The agreement would save New Yorkers as much as $450 million annually at the pump by capping the state sales taxes at $2 per gallon. The bill would cap the state sales taxes on gas at 8-cents per gallon, effectively freezing the tax at the $2 per gallon rate.

The New York State Senate has passed legislation (S.6613) sponsored by Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) that would authorize approval of certain transportation contracts within the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District.
The legislation would allow the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District to be eligible to receive transportation aid for five of its contracts from the 2004-2005 school year that the district inadvertently omitted in its filing to the State Education Department.

"But the noise from the highway changed that over the years. Many residents came to me to petition for a sound barrier that would reduce the noise.

According to the legislation, this task force would be composed of eighteen members representing state government, the public health field, health care providers, emergency response organizations and agriculture.

The New York State Senate today passed a comprehensive package of DWI legislation that will keep repeat DWI offenders off the streets and increase the penalties for drunk driving, especially drunk drivers that severely injure or kill innocent victims.

The State Senate today passed legislation sponsored by Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) that would allow vendors who sell wine to also sell a beverage called Soju. Soju is an alcoholic beverage made exclusively in Korea with an alcohol content of no more than 24 percent.
In addition, the Larkin bill (S.6259) would allow vendors to sell other alcohol beverages with low-to-medium alcohol content that are made from agricultural products grown and produced in New York State that have an alcohol content of no more than 24 percent.
