NEW YORK FARM BUREAU NAMES LARKIN TO THEIR "CIRCLE OF FRIENDS"


In recognition of his support of local farmers, the New York Farm Bureau has named Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) to their "Circle of Friends" for the 2010 Legislative Session.

SENATOR LARKIN ANNOUNCES FISH AND GAME BROCHURE NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced that the 2010-2011 Fish and Game brochure, a convenient guide containing important information on fishing and hunting in New York State, is now available online by going to http://larkin.nysenate.gov.

"Each year, dozens of people call my offices because they either never received this brochure or because they want additional copies for their friends and family," said Senator Larkin. "Now, instead of waiting for what they need in the mail, these individuals and anyone else can just go to my website and print out, or simply review, the information they are after."

LARKIN SLAMS SALES TAX INCREASE

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) cautions all individuals and families that a sales tax hike will soon take effect. On October 1st, New York State will begin collecting 4 percent sales tax on clothing and footwear costing $110 or less as part of the 2010-2011 state budget approved by the Democrats who control state government.

"Between the last two state budgets, both of which I voted against, taxes and fees have increased by an incredible $12 billion," said Senator Larkin. "How many more people, jobs and businesses have to leave New York before the Democrats ‘running’ this state realize that tax increases are adding to our problems, not solving them?"

New York's Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan Now Accepting Applications


NY Bridge Plan Will Begin October 1, 2010

 


 

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced today that a new insurance program to assist those individuals who have pre-existing health conditions is now accepting applications for coverage. The NY Bridge Plan, as the new program is known, will start providing coverage on October 1st to those people accepted into the program.

SENATOR LARKIN ANNOUNCES CORRECTION OFFICER EXAM SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER

Application Deadline is September 13, 2010

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) joined with the New York State Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) in announcing the new exam date for persons interested in becoming a correction officer. Under the auspices of the NYS Department of Civil Service, the exam will be held on October 16, 2010. The deadline for filing an application is September 13, 2010.

SENATE REPUBLICANS PROVIDE VOTES TO PASS PROPERTY TAX CAP

 


 

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson), along with his Senate Republican colleagues, today unanimously supported legislation to enact a property tax cap, leading the way for its passage despite a lack of support from a quarter of the members of the Senate Democratic Conference.

"Taxpayers across the state have been crying out for real property tax relief," said Senator Larkin. "This property tax cap is a first step towards helping homeowners, particularly senior citizens, stay in their homes. I urge the Assembly to pass this legislation immediately and ease the burden on struggling homeowners throughout New York."

LARKIN REMINDS HOMEOWNERS TO APPLY FOR STAR BY MARCH 1ST

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) is reminding homeowners that the deadline to apply for the (Basic and Enhanced) STAR property tax exemption is March 1, 2010.

Basic STAR, which exempts $30,000 of a home’s value from school taxes, is available to all New Yorkers who own and live in their home. Assuming you do not move, you only need to apply for this exemption once.

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) joined sportsmen and women from around the state at the inaugural Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day in Albany on Wednesday, January 12th. Two recent fatal incidents involving intoxicated drivers with child passengers have highlighted the need for stronger measures to prevent or punish persons who drive intoxicated with children as passengers.

Larkin Attends Inaugural Meeting Of BiPartisan Delegation Of Hudson Valley Senators
