LARKIN REMINDS HOMEOWNERS TO APPLY FOR STAR BY MARCH 1ST

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) is reminding homeowners that the deadline to apply for the (Basic and Enhanced) STAR property tax exemption is March 1, 2010.

Basic STAR, which exempts $30,000 of a home’s value from school taxes, is available to all New Yorkers who own and live in their home. Assuming you do not move, you only need to apply for this exemption once.

SENATE DEMOCRATS REJECT REPUBLICAN EFFORT TO ENACT PROPERTY TAX CAP, PROVIDE REAL RELIEF FOR MIDDLE CLASS TAXPAYERS

 

 

Senate Democrats today unanimously voted down a Republican-sponsored amendment that would have enacted a property tax cap, prevented school districts from raising local tax levies this year, and provided middle-class taxpayers across the State with relief from soaring property taxes.

LARKIN REMINDS HOMEOWNERS TO APPLY FOR STAR BY MARCH 1ST

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) is reminding homeowners that the deadline to apply for both the Basic and the Enhanced STAR property tax exemption is March 1, 2012.

Basic STAR is available for owner-occupied, primary residences where the owners’ total income is less than $500,000.  Basic STAR works by exempting the first $30,000 of the full assessed value of a home from school taxes.  Generally, homeowners only need to apply for this exemption once.
