Democrats Target Sportsmen With Higher Fees - $22 Million Hit To Upstate Economy

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today spoke out about increased fees for hunting and fishing licenses.

"As sportsmen prepare for the upcoming hunting and fishing seasons, many are beginning to realize that almost every sporting license has increased significantly since last year," said Senator Larkin. "The license fee increases were included in this year's disastrous state budget, put together in secret by Governor Paterson and the Legislature's Democratic majorities."

Senator Larkin Cosponsors Legislation To Repeal Utility Tax Increase

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) cosponsored legislation that would repeal a new tax on utilities included in the 2009-10 state budget.

Senate Bill 6132 would repeal a new law that went into effect July 1st requiring individuals and businesses to pay a 2% New York State Mandated tax for gas and electric utilities. The money from this tax will be sent directly to the state's general fund.

This Is Not The Way To Keep New York's Parks Open

Senator Bill Larkin (R, C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) condemned the passage of today's bill increasing taxes and fees on businesses under the guise of keeping New York's parks open. The proposal, which was negotiated behind closed doors by New York City Democrats in the wee hours of the morning, calls for unprecedented hikes in fees and taxes on both large and small businesses across the state.

The School Tax Relief Program, or STAR, was sponsored by the New York State Senate to provide a partial exemption from school property taxes for New York State residents who own homes. Since it was enacted in 1997, STAR has saved homeowners more than $21.5 billion. Now that STAR is fully implemented, more than three million homeowners will save nearly $4.7 billion this year.

Plan Would Create Jobs, Cut Taxes and Control State SpendingJobs Proposal Will Be Included in Senate Budget Proposal

 Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced details of the 2012 NEW JOBS-NY Job Creation Plan that includes significant tax relief to encourage the creation of new private sector jobs, measures to ensure fiscal responsibility and control state spending, as well as other reforms and incentives to make New York more economically competitive.  The plan will be included in the Senate budget resolution to be acted on next week.
