STATEMENT BY SENATOR BILL LARKIN REGARDING THE ASSEMBLY’S FAILURE TO PASS ULSTER COUNTY SALES TAX LEGISLATION

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today called on the New York State Assembly to commit to placing legislation to extend Ulster County’s sales tax on any future agenda should they be called back into session by the Governor.  The Assembly left town on Friday without taking up the measure.

Statement by Senators Larkin and Tkaczyk Urging the Assembly to Reconvene and Pass Ulster County’s Sales Tax Legislation

Senators Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) and Cecilia Tkaczyk (D, Duanesburg) today called on the New York State Assembly to reconvene to pass legislation which would extend Ulster County’s additional 1% sales tax.  Failure by the Assembly to act will result in $26 million in lost revenue to the County, its towns and the City of Kingston.

NEWBORN SCREENING BILL AND LOCAL LEGISLATION SIGNED INTO LAW

Larkin Bills Approved by Governor

Three pieces of legislation were signed into law by Governor Cuomo announced the bills’ sponsor, Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson).   Of the three bills, two were local legislation dealing with Orange County’s one percent sales tax extension and conveying land in the Thiells-Roseville Fire District.  The other piece of legislation dealt with requiring hospitals to screen newborns for congenital heart defects.

LEGISLATION BY SENATOR BILL LARKIN PASSES SENATE

Bill Would Allow Towns To Set Speed Limits

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced that the New York State Senate has unanimously passed legislation (S3992) which would allow towns with a population of more than 25,000 to set speed limits on their own roads and highways.
