Joan Kaplan, an accomplished public servant and community advocate, heads up the Elaine and William Kaplan Family Foundations. The Foundations have aided in countless projects that have benefi ted the greater Newburgh Area, and Ms. Kaplan’s work is well-recognized and respected in her community and beyond.
Senator Bill Larkin (R,C – Cornwall-On-Hudson) and Assemblyman James Skoufis (D – Woodbury) paid tribute to a group of cadets both men and women from the United States Military Academy at West Point during the 63rd annual West Point Day on Wednesday May 6th, held in the New York State Capitol in Albany.
A reception took place at Senator Larkin’s Albany Office in the Capitol Building. A group of cadets, Lieutenant General Robert L. Caslen, Superintendant and other officers from West Point were honored in the Senate and Assembly chambers.
Albany, NY - Senator William Larkin (R-C Cornwall-on-Hudson) issued the following statement on the State Assembly’s decision to follow the Senate’s lead in passing legislation ensuring of equal pay for equal work.
“This year, the Senate demonstrated our commitment to equal pay for equal work by passing Senate bill one on the very first day of session” Larkin said. “Senate bill one, ensures that hardworking women in the Hudson Valley have the opportunity to earn the same wage as their male counterparts and ensure that equal pay for equal work is finally a reality in New York.”
Larkin noted that other planks of the Senate’s Women’s Equality Agenda which have already passed the Senate have not yet been taken up by the Assembly.
Legislation Will Aid in Job Creation and Promote Economic Growth
for New York’s Most Rural Communities
The New York State Senate today passed legislation that will help New York farmers grow their businesses. The bill (S2250) sponsored by Senator William Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson), would connect farmers to Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs), giving them additional resources to promote economic growth and increase job creation.
