New Boardwalk Will Provide Increased Access to the Great Swamp
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a new accessible boardwalk and trail are now open to the public at Stewart State Forest in Orange County. Two new 400-foot sections of the boardwalk spanning the Great Swamp have been completed, providing visitors increased access to view the swamp habitat and wildlife. The $434,000 project was funded by the NY Works program.
New Windsor, NY - Senator Bill Larkin (R, C – Cornwall-On-Hudson) announced today that the New York State Library has awarded over $350,000 in construction grants to four local libraries in the 39th Senate District.
“Any investment in our local libraries is an investment in our children’s future,” stated Senator Bill Larkin. “These construction grants will help maximize services offered to residents throughout the Hudson Valley, improve accessibility for seniors and create a more energy efficient infrastructure.”
The Pine Bush Public Library will receive $2,500 to address energy efficiency opportunities based on an audit from NYSERDA. Specifically, this project will replace air conditioning, lighting and add insulation.
Senator Bill Larkin (R-Cornwall) alongside Assemblymen James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) and Ken Zebrowski (D-New City) announced that over $10 million in critical state funding has been secured to repair the north section of the Palisades Interstate Parkway after years of neglect. Additionally, Route 6 will be resurfaced between Route 293 and the Palisades Parkway later this year.
The New York State Senate today passed new legislation (S5937) dealing with service credit for our veterans. This bill is different from the previously passed legislation (S4124) which passed the Senate unanimously earlier this session.
The previous bill had an appropriation of $31.5 million and this bill has an appropriation of $24.8 million. According to the Assembly sponsor of this bill, the $24.8 million estimate was provided by the division of the budget.

The Assembly will now be tasked with sending these bills to the Governor’s desk for his signature. I urge Governor Cuomo to sign these bills into law as soon as possible.”

Albany, NY - Senator Bill Larkin (R, C – Cornwall-On-Hudson) announced today that Senate Bill S4124 passed the Senate unanimously. This legislation will allow all honorably discharged veterans who are members of a Public Employee Retirement System within New York State to purchase up to three years of service credit for time served in the military.
