Senator Bill Larkin Announces Passage of the 2014-2015 New York State Budget

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced the passage of the New York State budget today.  Included in the 2014-15 budget are increases in school aid funding; CHIPS funding for roads; property tax relief for homeowners; and tax relief to businesses to spur growth and job creation.

Larkin Receives Legislator of the Year Award from the American Heart Association

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) has been named Legislator of the Year by the American Heart Association.  Senator Larkin received the award at a ceremony held in Albany for his work on the Pulse Oximetry legislation.

LARKIN NAMED TO NEW TASK FORCE ON HEROIN AND OPIOID ADDICTION

STATEMENT BY SENATOR BILL LARKIN ON THE CORNWALL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT HOURS DECISION

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) said:  “I am very pleased that St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital has decided to keep the Cornwall Emergency Department open 24 hours a day and not pursue an application with the Department of Health for a reduction in hours at this time.  While we are not out of the woods yet on this issue, I look forward to working with all parties to make sure the community and most importantly the patients are represented while the discussions concerning the Cornwall campus occur.”

STATEMENT BY SENATOR BILL LARKIN ON BOARD OF REGENTS VOTE

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) said:  “Today, I voted no on all four of the Regents brought before us by the Assembly.  With the overwhelming concerns that have been raised with regard to the Common Core roll-out and its impact on students, parents, teachers and school districts, I felt it was necessary to send a message to the Board of Regents that things have to change and there needs to be more accountability when programs of this magnitude are introduced in our schools.  I hope the Board of Regents takes these votes seriously and begins to be more receptive to the needs of not only our students but everyone concerned about education in New York State.”

Creates the Crime of Cemetery Desecration of a Veteran
