Moffat Library Legislation Sponsored by Senator Bill Larkin Passes Senate

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced today that legislation (Senate bill S.7066) to allow the Moffat Library in Washingtonville to be eligible for Dormitory Authority financing has passed the Senate. 

Moffat Library is planning a multi-million dollar renovation of its historic building and this legislation will allow the library to apply to the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York to assist with the financing of the project.

Sidney Tendler

Sidney Tendler enlisted in the Army Air Corps in June 1942, and was called to active duty in November, 1942. He was sent to Kessler Field in Biloxi, Mississippi, for basic training. From there, he spent time in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for training as a radio operator in an aircraft.

After completing flight training and schooling as a Radio Operator, Sidney and the crew were assigned to the 7th Emergency Rescue Squadron. Their B-17 #1797 carried large survival boats called Flying Dutchmen, which were attached to the underside of the airplane. Once released from the plane, three large parachutes carried these boats to survivors in the water.

Senator Bill Larkin Honored by the March of Dimes

Senator Bill Larkin was recently honored by the March of Dimes for his work on the Pulse Oximetry Legislation.  This new law will protect newborns by screening them for critical congenital heart defects before they are discharged from the hospital.  Shown presenting Senator Larkin with a plaque are Jerry Silber, Chair, Board of Directors, March of Dimes NY Chapter and Frank DeMeo, Director, March of Dimes NY Chapter.

Senate Task Force on Heroin & Opioid Addiction - Newburgh Public Forum

Senator Bill Larkin hosted a Senate Task Force on Heroin & Opioid Addiction public forum in Newburgh to solicit input from the community on this fast-growing epidemic.  The information garnered at the forum will be used to develop legislative recommendations on how best to address the impact of heroin on our communities.

Alyce Ingram

Alyce Ingram is a lifelong resident of Haverstraw and has been serving the community around her for as long as she can remember. As a high school student, she volunteered at a local animal hospital and continued public service through college by volunteering with numerous organizations, including Le Sigma Femmes, in support of rights for women and children.

After the birth of her daughter, Ms. Ingram was a stay-at-home mom. Her daughter, Chelsea, was diagnosed with Costello’s Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder which affects only two to three hundred people worldwide. This disorder required Chelsea to undergo numerous surgeries and begin daily occupational, physical and speech therapies, along with Ms. Ingram’s constant care.

Senator Bill Larkin Announces Passage of the 2014-2015 New York State Budget

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced the passage of the New York State budget today.  Included in the 2014-15 budget are increases in school aid funding; CHIPS funding for roads; property tax relief for homeowners; and tax relief to businesses to spur growth and job creation.
